The Clear P-90 is something I’ve wanted to build for a long time. Years ago, Gibson experimented briefly with a clear P-90. Most players never saw one in person, but the concept stuck with me: a pickup that lets you see the coil
So we finally built it.
This is not a novelty pickup or a display piece. It’s a fully gig-ready, no-compromise P-90, built exactly like our standard pickups—just without hiding the coolness.

As good as these P90s look, they sound even better. Cleans are crystal clear and sound amazing with gain through my Orange AD30……. I love p90’s and these are the best I’ve found. Period.
I did something that will likely meet a lot of crticism. I replaced the pickups in a custom core Heritage h150 p90. But I have to say it sounds better and more like I wanted. And the Phelam blue with the clear P90s looks like a vintage hotrod! Super cool!!
I genuinely do not know how Dylan pulled this off.
Over the last year, I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time researching electric guitar pickups, chasing “My Tone”. I wanted pickups that could stay tight and clear at any volume, clean up beautifully, deliver warm, velvety sweetness, and still hit hard with articulate, harmonically rich crunch when pushed.
I honestly did not believe all of that could exist in one set of pickups.
Before these, I had never owned a set of P-90s. I had played a few and liked them, but nothing had really floored me. I also went deep into Gibson CustomBuckers and bought multiple versions because, at the time, I believed they were the best I had heard, and came closest to having all I was seeking in sound.
Then I found the Dylan P-90 Clear pickups.
At first, I bought them mainly because they looked incredible and I thought they would be a fun, high-quality upgrade for my gloss ebony Jackson Soloist. I expected them to look great. I expected them to sound good.
I was not prepared for how good they actually are.
These pickups are absolutely outstanding. Crisp, clear, responsive, and full of life, with tight lows, sparkling highs, and beautiful articulation. They have the kind of touch sensitivity, harmonic richness, and musical responsiveness that I normally associate with truly top-tier pickups.
The more I played them, the more obvious it became: these are not just cool-looking pickups. These are elite-level pickups.
Yes, they have their own character. Yes, they are P-90s. But in terms of quality, tone, responsiveness, and inspiration, they absolutely deserve to be mentioned alongside the very best. In my opinion, they rival top-of-the-line Gibson pickups — and with their unique visual style, they may even have the edge.
That is not something I say lightly.
Dylan and team, this is real craftsmanship. I say this with confidence as a 25 year entrepreneur and craftsman of technical repair and service work myself. These pickups are not just parts — they are works of art. I will absolutely be buying more.
