love the super 8 mid power fun, makes pinch harmonics without too much work, but still has that pad tone to it just with a little muscle. might even say its like a pearly gates with more clarity.
I love my dragon Burl super-8's, they're easily the best sounding pickups I have, are made with quality components, and are really pretty. One of my pickups did arrive with a loose/cold solder joint on one of the two connection points which I corrected before installing them, otherwise 5 stars. they are perfect/exactly what I hoped for.
I normally hate neck humbuckers, and I generally have a rough time trying to balance a bridge humbucker I like with a neck single coil, without having to dial in my tone for one or the other. I have modded all my stage guitars with a passive bass cut knob, to try to account for the muddiness of the neck humbuckers, but this has always been a compromise.
These give me the sound I want from a neck humbucker: they are dense and thick, but not muddy. I actually prefer the neck sound to the bridge when clean, because it's both clear and full; it's mellow but not muddy. I generally leave my amp on the same settings, and switch between a clean and gain sound with my pickups; but since I always preferred the bridge pickup for both clean and gain sounds, I would have to compromise. Not anymore, it's exactly what I was looking for.
I asked Dylan what pickups I should get, after explaining my previous woes, and he recommended this set. I absolutely love it.
I love these pickups. I put them in an Epiphone SG and the are so much clearer and fuller than the stock pickups. They give more oomph! I would suggest these to anyone looking to improve everything in your tone. Thanks Dylan!
